I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Simon

We're happy to tell you that Simon has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hey there!  My name is Simon and I am 1 years old.  I weigh 17#s and I am a Cairn Terrier mix.  My fur is wiry and if you are a chocolate lover - my coat is the same color.

I was found as a stray, and I spent some time at a shelter.  Shelter said I didn't have a great "cage presence" so they asked rescue to take me.  Treasured Animal Rescue said sure!

When I got the Freedom Ride my foster Mom went to help me into the car.  You know what I did?  I rolled over onto my back and exposed my belly.  I think I was being silly, but my Rescuers think "cage presence" - what?!?  He's a goofball.

So, whenever my foster Mom has me do things and I don't want to do it I just roll over on my belly.  Uh, hello I'm a Terrier so you know we can be stubborn.

In my foster home there are other dogs and cats.  I ignore the cats and I've learned the word "outside" that's when all us doggies go outside to do our business.

At nighttime I sleep in a crate either with another dog or by myself.  I will bark because I don't want to be in the crate.  Even though I get a fluffy bed and blankie - I want to be with my foster Humans or maybe it reminds me of being in a shelter?  Who knows.  My bark is loud and sometimes it sounds like I'm squeaking.  My nickname is Squeaky 2 because there's another little dog here that also squeaks.  She's louder than me!  So, because of the loudness my foster Mom thinks an apartment is not the best living situation for me.

I also need a fenced yard.  My Rescuers see how I became a stray. If I see you leaving the house, I get really excited because I'm hoping you are taking me with you. So, we have to be careful at the front door because I can dart out.  I run fast too!  I haven't darted out while I'm in my foster Mom because she says no fosters get out on her watch.

I've met some kids, and I liked them.  I liked it when they give me treats.  I am very treat motivated.  In my excitement of meeting new people, I will jump on their legs. So, I am learning the word "off".

I have so much to learn and being I'm a young guy I have a lifetime to learn to be a good dog.  I hope my forever family will have the time and commitment to maybe taking me to doggie training.  I bet with my cuteness and smarts I'll be the Teacher's Pet.

I know I will win your heart when you come meet me. When I get so excited when I meet new people it looks like I'm smiling.  It's because I'm happy! I'm happy I'm no longer a stray.  I'm happy that I am not scared in a shelter, but I'll be even happier when I have my own family to love me.

After you read this are you ready to be my family?

Cheers!

Simon
