I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Scooter

We're happy to tell you that Scooter has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hello, my name is Scooter, and I am 6 years old. I'm one of those fancy designer dogs.  I'm what you call a Morkie.  Maltese/Yorkie or better yet - I'm your All-American Mutt.

I was found as a stray.  I don't know how I got loose from my Owners because in my foster home I am a "Velcro dog."  I don't venture very far from my foster Mom or other dogs.  Of course, I have a nice secure yard, so nobody is getting out and becoming a stray.  That's our foster Mom's #1 job.

I love to hang out with all the little dogs.  There is a couple big dogs and I am ok with them.  I don't really play with other dogs or toys.  Maybe I just don't know how to play, or I rather watch the silly dogs chase each other for a stuffed toy.  Hello?  There are whole bins filled with other toys. We all can get our own.

When I am not outside, I like to be in my foster Grandma's room.  I lay right by her feet or in a doggie bed.  I'm too short to hop in the bed but that's ok.  I'm quite comfy in a doggie bed.  There are cats that live here too, and I don't mind them.  Shoot, they are bigger than me.

I am a quiet boy. I don't bark much.  Only when all the dogs are barking I of course, have to chime in.  I don't know what they are barking about but I want to be part of the gang.  I go outside a lot to do my business and I don't mind the cold weather.  But I do have an accident or two in the house.  My foster Mom calls it "marking".  Maybe it's because I just got neutered.  6 years of bad habits are hard to change overnight.  But as soon as my foster Mom sees me sniff around or go to lift my leg I get "outside" right away, and I know what to do.

I hope one day I will have a forever family that will keep me safe and never be a stray again.  Being on my own was scary for this little guy.  Maybe you & I can go for walks, and I get to explore.  Let me mark all the trees outside and I don't do it in the house - we hope!  I sometimes get a little touchy with my paws being held or my ears.  My doggie vet checked me out and there's nothing wrong with my feet/paws or ears but I did have some nasty teeth pulled.  Can you believe 9 teeth?!?

Can't wait to meet you!

Cheers,

Scooter
