Hello, my name is Iris and I am 8 years old. I weigh 41#s. I’m a mix of all sorts. I have wiry hair, but I don’t shed. I’m a Terrier mix. You know there are a lot of Terriers and when you get a mix you get the best of both worlds. Maybe my breeding is a mystery but I’m an open book.
My Human passed away and he & I was together. I guess you can say I was his faithful companion until the end. Even though I am only 8 years old and have lots of life in me. I didn’t have the best care when I was with my Human. I wish I could have helped him because he didn’t have the best health. But I guess in a way I did help him; I was with him until he went to People Heaven.
Some people came and took my Human away and then it was my turn. Where do I go? My Humans family didn’t want me, so they reached out to a shelter. There was a kind shelter person that said she will find a rescue so that this mature gal doesn’t go into a shelter. Treasured Animal Rescue was the rescue that said, “send her to us.”
I’m in a foster home that has other dogs, cats and kittens. I haven’t been around small kids so maybe a caution until I get used to them. I like hanging out in my foster Grandma’s room with some little dogs. We call that the “little dog room” but um, I’m not little. Remember I weigh 41# but my personality is so chill I just fit right in with the little dog pack.
When I first came to rescue my coat looked bad. My diet wasn’t the best but now I’m getting really good doggie food and an occasional bath. Having good food always at my side has put some pep back into this mature gals’ steps!
Are you looking for a mature girl that will lay by your feet and go for a leisure walk? Now that our weather is getting nicer, we can sit outside in the backyard and just feel the sunshine on our faces. I do need a fenced yard because I get skittish, and I don’t want to be a stray.
I can’t wait to have a family again and be someone’s faithful companion. I hope my Daddy is up in People Heaven looking down and making sure I’m happy. I am a happy girl and I hope one day you & I get to meet. Just say the word and our play date can be set up. I'll show you where I like to sun myself.
