Hello, my name is Henry, and I am 10 years young. My foster mom says I’m probably a Bichon Frise / poodle mix, which sometimes is called a Poochon or a Bichpoo. Although I’m a little bigger than most Poochons at 33 pounds, she says that I show all the characteristics of that designer mutt mix: Friendly, gentle, affectionate. Just add chill and snuggly, and that’s me in a nutshell.
I am in rescue because my original Owner went to an assisted living facility and wasn’t allowed to take me along, so her Caretaker brought me to a local Animal Control. I was a hot mess, with really long, matted hair, and I was under weight.
I don’t shed, so I have to be groomed. Some of these pictures do not show me looking my best because I got a groom at the shelter and it was super short. But it’s already growing back so my bad hair days are hopefully behind me. My foster family is working on getting me up to a healthier weight, too.
I'm good on a leash, I’m house trained, and I know some basic commands like “sit” and “stay”. I sometimes give High 5s, but not in response to “give paw”, so it’s just a silly thing I do. I am good with other dogs, and even cats. (If I’m in my crate and the cat comes up to the crate, I might bark at the cat, but when we’re both loose, I don’t chase cats.)
Being a "mature" guy I really don't play much. I like to hang out near my humans, I love to snuggle on the couch with my head in your lap. Outside, I’ll chase a squirrel, but I won’t bark at it. I don’t even bark back when other doggies bark at me on a walk. I’m very chill, quiet and observant. When I’m comfortable, and it's time to eat dinner or go outside, I act silly. I roll over on my back or give High 5s.
I have a real affinity for older people, but I really like all humans – even the teenagers in my foster home! LOL. I’m just looking for someone I can spend my golden years with. I promise I will be a loyal and loving companion to keep you company, and I don't require much - just a couch, lots of love, high 5s and the occasional haircut / grooming so my hair doesn’t get long and matted, requiring another buzz cut.
