I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Bandit – loves to snuggle

We're happy to tell you that Bandit – loves to snuggle has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hello, my name is Bandit, and I am a 2-3 years young mixed breed - maybe an English Pointer / Foxhound mix? I am a nice, medium size at 44 lbs. I was found as a stray in rural Kentucky and no one claimed me at the shelter after 60 days, so Treasured Animal Rescue brought me to a foster home.

You might notice that my tail is blurry in most of my pictures. That’s because my tail is always wagging. I am a happy and loving guy. First thing in the morning when I wake up, I’m really happy to see my humans, and I wag my tail and roll over for belly rubs. I love to snuggle on the couch with my chin in your lap. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, getting belly rubs, laying under your desk or enjoying brisk walks together, I just want to be with my humans.
I am totally housebroken, and I’m good on a leash. Because I am still a young dog, I have very youthful energy. So, while I love that snuggle time on the couch with you, I also really enjoy walks. Probably because of my hunting dog instincts, I’m very interested in the birds and squirrels along the way. I also enjoy running around in the fenced yard at my foster house. Despite my bursts of energy when I’m outside, I am a very quiet boy in the house.
So far, I haven’t met any kids other than the teenagers at my foster home. However, I’m so sweet and loving with humans, I’d probably be good with school-aged kids.
I know what toys are, and I enjoy chewing on the nylabones at my foster home. I also like to play tug-of-war with one of the other dogs at my foster house.
My foster home has 3 other dogs, and I do OK with them, and I have a favorite among them who likes to play. So, if my forever home has a female dog about my age who likes to play, I would like that! Otherwise, I could also be an only dog for an active family. who wouldn’t leave me alone too much.
My foster family takes me on at least 3 walks a day. My foster mom says I’m doing really well – I don’t usually pull unless something spooks me or if there is a squirrel I can chase up a tree. After spending the first part of my life in rural Kentucky, I’m a little uncertain with the garbage truck and the delivery trucks. I sometime jump back and look to my human to tell me “it’s ok” before I continue my walk. My instinct is to move away from the loud noise or the dog barking through the fence at me - I never get aggressive in those situations.
One day a family is going to come meet me, says my foster family. And, when you do can expect that I will greet you with tail wagging and want you to pet me pretty quickly. Before you know it, I’ll be zooming around your backyard, snuggling with you on the couch and giving you reason to get outside and get some exercise with me!
I would be happiest in a home where someone is home with me most of the time – like a stay at home parent, or a work from home person – so that I don’t have to be crated all day. I might do well in a doggie daycare, too, if you need to go into an office sometimes. Sometimes, I bark when I’m alone, so no shared walls or apartment living for me. If you have a fenced yard that I can run around in, that’s even better.
I am such a young, sweet, loving dog that my foster mom says that any family will be lucky to have me and I’ll make a great pet for a family. When you meet me, you will see that I just want to be loved and safe. Will you give me an active, loving, forever home?

Thanks!

Bandit
