Adoption Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
- Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease, no verbal approval)
- Fill out a Treasured Animal Rescue adoption application for a dog or cat and be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Treasured Animal Rescue Board Members and/or foster home
- Adoption payment through Zelle, Cash or Check

Apply/Review
Browse our Adoptable Gems on Adopt-A-Pet or Petfinder. Once you and your family feel you can meet an adoptable pet’s needs, please fill out our adoption application for the cat or the dog. This is the first step in the adoption process.
Please note, some adoptable pets receive numerous adoption applications and our Volunteers/Board Members are making the best decision regarding our adoptable pets on their forever home. Please understand our response to your application will be as soon as possible. We are 100% volunteer-based.
Meet & Greet
Your application will be reviewed by our team and references will be contacted. Once reviewed, our foster parent will contact you to set up a meet & greet.
Once a meet & greet is scheduled it will be discussed by our foster parent and decided what is in the best nature for the adoptable pet. (i.e. neutral area and/or foster home).
ALL potential family members involved in the adoption process must be present for the meet & greet along with the current family pet. The match for all involved is crucial in the decision-making process.
After the meet & greet, please take the time to process this decision. This life-changing decision not only affects the adopter’s household but the adoptable pet you’re adopting. Treasured Animal Rescue Board and foster parent will discuss the meet and greet and will render a final decision. Please note, this might be different from the potential adopter’s decision.
Visit/Gotcha Day
Before or the day of adoption, we will do a home visit. We will coordinate this with you. Next we will coordinate a time to pick up your new gem along with their paperwork. The adoption fees vary by the animal’s age and specific breed, along with medical needs while in our care, but are listed on our adoption sites. All adopted gems receive their first year of vaccinations as well as their microchip, flea/tick treatments and de-worming. Cats and dogs who are too young to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated against rabies, at the time of adoption, will receive appointments to one of our veterinary partners.
