Hi there! My name is Diggie or my full name is Diggie Smalls. I'm a small guy. I weigh about 19#s. I'm all black and one of my paws are white. It looks like I stepped in a pan of white paint (but I didn't). I'm one of those fluffy designer dogs. Maybe I'm mixed with Havanese or Llapso Apso. A mixture of cuteness.
I'm in a foster home with other dogs & cats. I ignore the cats, and I play with the other dogs. Some of the other dogs are bigger than me and I'm fine with them. Sometimes, I can be bossy with them, but they are well behaved dogs, so they are ok with bossy dogs. When I'm bossy with them they just ignore me. Maybe it's because they are well behaved or because they are girls. Girls ignore boys, right? Hee hee.
I've been around kids, and I have some history with them. But my foster Mom is putting a caution for me to be in a home with small kids. When you inquire about me with an application my foster Mom will give you my whole rescue story. It's quite long and but I promise you, it's a good rescue story. I just need a chance for a forever home.
Want to help me figure out my forever home? Here's the checklist: No apartments or shared walls (condo, townhomes). I am a barker, and we wouldn't want any neighbors complaining about me. I am potty trained, but I don't tell you when I need to do my business. I LOVE going outside so now that the weather is getting warmer, I love to be out in the sun, and I do my business like a good boy. I am crate trained but I don't really need it.
I don't get into things. I don't chew or make a mess. I am not really a lap dog. If you invite me on the couch or chair with you, I will hop up and I like it when you pet me or scratch my ears, but I will jump down eventually. I might not stay on your lap. I prefer to be by your feet.
I like to spend my days hanging out on the back of a couch looking at the window and I will bark when I see kids, birds or people walking by. I might make a good watch dog.
I've been around small kids, but I have to be in a home where the adults teach small kids where to put their fingers. Small dogs don't like fingers (or hands) all over them or in their faces/mouth - that includes me. My foster Mom can tell you more about that too.
Another thing on my checklist is I have to have regular grooming. I have silky black hair that needs grooming every 8-10 weeks. I have been to the groomer, and I do pretty well. Once I establish a friendship with a groomer it will be so easy for me to get acclimated.
I like it when my foster family comes home. I get really excited and I will jump up to greet them. I know when my foster family comes home from work I get to go outside and do my business. After the nitty gritty stuff is done I get a treat. Boy, do I like treats!
