Hello! My name is Matty, and I am about 4 years old. I am a beautiful short hair Calico.
I've got a rescue story that I would like to share with you. About 4 years ago I was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. Because I'm so cute and friendly (hello - I'm a Calico!) I was adopted. I lived with a lady that got me a friend to hang out with. But one day she was no longer there. Neither was the furnishings I used to lounge around on or any food. My Owner moved out and left me & my friend.
Landlord found us and brought us to the shelter. Many shelters are located in very rural parts of Illinois and the workers there remembered me, but they noticed I was a bit different. If you look closely at my eyes, they are cloudy. Shelter thought I was blind, so they put out a bunch of emails to rescues to help me and my friend.
I came to Treasured Animal Rescue and I went right away to the vet. Vet said I have my sight, but I have something called cataracts. Did you know cats can get cataracts? That cloudy look on my eyes? We can but I can live a normal life just like any other kitty.
Some might think oh, this poor kitty girl but guess what? I can climb up cat trees just like any other cat. I know where my litterbox is, where my food is and more importantly, I know when my foster Mom goes to bed because I climb up on the bed and I give her little nibbles on her chin. I pester her until she gives me ear scratches and rubs my belly. Then I curl up on her shoulder and we both go to sleep.
There are other cats & dogs that live in my foster home, and I am fine with all of them. I'm not shy. I would call myself very confident and love attention. I'm a quiet girl but you will hear my purrs when I'm happy.
I don't know why my Owner left me in an apartment but it's part of my story and I hope when I get my forever family they will never leave me.
