Hi! My name is Ahsoka and I’m a 1-year-old purebred Siberian Husky. I currently weigh 46 pounds, and could stand to gain a few more.
As a puppy, I was found in the woods of Kentucky by animal control. There were local backyard breeders dumping puppies like me in the woods if we didn’t sell fast enough. The shelter asked for help, and TAR helped me.
Now, I'm a year and and I’m in a foster home that has other dogs, and I LOVE to play with other dogs who are about my size. There are 3 other girl dogs at my foster home, and we are besties – running and playing and acting like dogs. I do like to play in the mud, but what youngster doesn’t? When we had those really heavy rains a while back, I loved it! Sooo many puddles to splash in! I came in covered in muddy water and needed a bath. My foster mom just had to laugh.
Now, there are also cats in my foster home, and I chase them. I haven’t hurt a cat, but my new home should not have any cats.
I am very gentle with kids, and would do well with an active family with kids. (Huskies love to “herd” kids, especially in the snow!) I take food very nicely and gently. Much like my Star Wars namesake, I am well trained! I am great on a leash. and I’m also house trained as well as crate trained. All you have to say is "Ahsoka go kennel" and I go right in my crate.
If you know the husky breed, you might have heard that we can be jumpers, but NOT me. I haven’t even tried to jumped the fence at my foster mom’s house. Due to my breed, a single-family home with a fenced yard would be best for me, though.
The other thing about huskies, is that we’re vocal – we like to talk! However, I am quiet MOST of the time. I'll howl or talk to my foster mom when I want something. I talk a lot while waiting my turn for breakfast!
I really like car rides, but my foster mom say I have to be tethered because I like to look out all the windows and she says that’s not safe while she’s driving. Also, huskies do shed and if you need help learning to groom me, I’m REALLY good at the groomer. I sat nicely and loved being brushed. The groomer said I was the best behaved husky she’s ever groomed!
So, if you are looking for a medium sized family dog who will talk to you and give you a reason to be outside, then I am your gal. Maybe we can even watch Star Wars together!
