Owner Surrender Information

Treasured Animal Rescue will take owner relinquished animals, however, based on availability of our foster homes. Please see the questions below before contacting a Treasured Animal Rescue Volunteer. Please provide this information along with 2-3 updated pictures to assist us in finding a foster home.  A Treasured Animal Rescue will contact you to assist in relinquishing your pet.

QUESTIONS:

  • Why are you giving up your pet?

  • Is your pet microchip? If so, please provide all microchip paperwork, chip # and or stickers

  • Any answers to the above answer to NO, can you assist financially to update the relinquished pet?

    • Vetting
      • Updated on vaccines – need records
      • Last heartworm test
        • When was their last heart worm prevention given?
      • Last fecal test
      • Spayed/Neuter
  • Is your pet dog/cat friendly?

  • Have they been around children?

  • Are they food, people, dog aggressive?

  • What training have you done for your pet – dogs?

  • What is your dog’s normal routine?

  • Are you able to supply any food, bedding, toys, etc. to help with the transition of your pet into our foster care?

  • Where did you get your pet originally?

    • Shelter/Another Rescue

    Check with them on their return policy. Many will take back. Treasured Animal Rescue will not take back another Shelters/Rescues pet without their consent



  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
  • Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease, no verbal approval)
  • Be approved as a suitable foster home by Treasured Animal Rescue Board Members
  • Be willing to foster the Treasured Animal Rescue dog until he/she is adopted
  • Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease, no verbal approval)
  • Provide structure, proper care (i.e. food, water, shelter) and basic needs while in their foster care
  • Take to approved Treasured Animal Rescue vets


Be at least 18 years of age

  • Under 18, must have a legal Guardian/Adult present at events


  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
  • Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease, no verbal approval)
  • Fill out a Treasured Animal Rescue adoption application for a dog or cat and be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Treasured Animal Rescue Board Members and/or foster home
  • Adoption payment cash and check only
